A Full Gale at the Marieholm Test Center
Marieholm boats sail in all the oceans of the World. Most of these waters fortunately are not as punishing as the North Sea in which our boats are launched. Yet rougher still is the treatment that we give the materials and gear before their use in our craft.
After all, we are determined that our boats shall be able to sail without failure through conditions beyond even our experience, and that you will have complete confidence not only in our designs, but in every aspect of our construction.
A variety of tensile and strength tests helps in the selection of materials, details and equipment. These tests complement years of on-water experience. Then we try out on the water what we have built.
Our boats are pushed harder by us than by loving owners. Occasionally we hear of events that confirm the prudent policies of our development program. It will always be the purpose of Marieholms Bruk to deliver yachts of outstanding quality and value.

2001 prices for a used boat in Sweden: 10000 to 16000 skr (swedish crowns).
The Seacat was manufactured by Marieholms Bruk 1966 to 1973. Approximately 500 boats were manufacturered. The Seacat was probably never exported to the U.S.
There are not many private websites on the boat. Robert Östman reports that Seacats were, and still are often used by sailing schools and for sea scouting in Sweden and have in many cases been the first boat for many families. The Seacat is inexpensive to buy and easy to handle.

Marieholm International Folk Boat
The International Folkboat
Following the worldwide success of the wooden lapstrake Nordic Folkboat, it was natural that Marieholms should commission designer Tord Sundén to redesign the boat for fiberglass construction. The International Folkboat (IF Boat in Europe) appeared in 1969. Very wisely, the sea-kindly, time tested lines were retained while using the (then) newer material to achieve a more graceful profile, more interior room, and more sail area for better light air performance.
Her sailing credentials are superb. One would expect a Scandinavian boat to be a good heavy weather sailor, but many a skipper of a modern racer has been surprised at her light air abilities. With her long keel, fine lines and 7/8th rig, she can sail hands off. The little ace of single handlers!
Construction is of sturdy hand laid up fiberglass with a large overlapping deck-to-hull joint and ample mast support. Encapsulated iron ballast of 2,750 lbs is over 50% of her displacement of approximately 5,000 lbs.
The standard boat has an ingenious well for the outboard engine. The engine can be withdrawn and stored in the lazarette. A filler plug closes the well opening for faster sailing. A diesel inboard engine can be provided at cost.

The Idea Behind the Marieholm 26
The Marieholm 26 is an offshore cruiser, a spacious family boat with all the comforts necessary for pleasant holiday sailing. She is, without a doubt a perfect sailing boat, (adapted to our special coast), a coast consisting of beautiful small inlets and wide unsheltered fjords, where capricious winds blow.
Marieholm 26 has a great advantage with its 7/8ths rig. The mast is relatively tall, which enables her to sail effectively even in narrow passages of the archipelago. She has a fantastic ability for sail close windedness and can be sailed in conditions where other boats prefer to use their engines. Nevertheless, Marieholm 26 is a boat that is just as much at home in more open waters, where the full effects of the sea and wind are felt. The long keeled hull with classic slender lines, makes her extremely stable and responsive in all seas.
Four persons live in comfort onboard, both above and below deck. The boat is, however, perfectly adapted for single-handed sailing, everything being within easy reach of the helmsman. Marieholm is a new family cruiser based on a proven design, of which more than 3,500 examples have been built.
She is designed by Tord Sundén as a development of the IF boat - the world's largest racing class for yachts.
Marieholm 26 has 7/8ths rig, spacious cabin and diesel engine as standard - a perfect boat for the Swedish archipelago - an offshore cruiser.
